The Programme and the training department are delighted to welcome the IDeAL 2, Cohort 2 Postgraduate Diploma Fellows. The 29 Fellows, supported by the Initiative to Develop African Research Leaders and the Africa Leadership for Measuring Brain Health in Children and Adolescents (ALMA) hosted by the Aga Khan University Institute for Human Development, are enrolled at Pwani University. The Fellows will have a unique opportunity to advance their research careers over the next 10 months within IDeAL’s and ALMA’s broader portfolio of research capacity-building activities, which collectively aim to generate a critical mass of African health research leaders. This mission is driven by the understanding that the interventions necessary for achieving universal health coverage in Africa, a crucial factor in the continent’s socio-economic growth, can best be designed by well-trained African research scientists who have a deep understanding of the region’s unique challenges.
