PGD Fellow, Epicenter, Niger
My name is YAHAYA Mahamane Lawali. I hold a master’s degree in Biological Sciences, specializing in Bacteriology and Virology, within the field of Science and Technology. My career is firmly rooted in medical biology, where I have gained extensive experience in laboratory work, academic instruction, and applied research.
I began my professional journey as a laboratory technician in a district hospital, where I later took the role of laboratory manager. I subsequently worked at the Regional Blood Transfusion Center in Zinder before joining the National School of Public Health (ENSP) in Zinder as a trainer in the medical biology program.
I am currently pursuing a PhD at the André Salifou University of Zinder, with partial funding from the IDeAL program (Initiative to Develop African Research Leaders), which strengthens my commitment to research and scientific production in public health.
My research activities focus on key public health challenges, including:
- The study of Plasmodium falciparum chemosensitivity to chloroquine
- The detection of antibiotic residues in raw milk sold in peri-urban areas of Niamey
- The bacteriological and epidemiological profile of surgical site infections at the National Hospital of Zinder
- The evaluation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis resistance to rifampicin in the Zinder region
Dedicated, rigorous, and passionate about research and education, I am fully committed to contributing to capacity building and enhancing biomedical practices in Niger.
