Dr. Seke Muzazu is a fellow of the IDeAL PhD program and an early career investigator (ESI) at the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ). She earned her medical degree in 2017 from the University of Zambia (UNZA). Subsequently, she attained a Master of Science in Clinical Trials from the Centre for Drug Development and Therapeutics Africa (CDT Africa) at Addis Ababa University in 2021. She is currently registered for a PhD with Denkinger research group at Heidelberg University in Germany. Dr. Seke’s research is centered on respiratory health, with a particular emphasis on the epidemiology and diagnostics of viral infections. Her doctoral research aims to ascertain the prevalence of influenza-related respiratory infections and the clinical progression thereof among adults in settings characterized by a high burden of HIV while concurrently evaluating the application of breath-based diagnostics for the detection of respiratory viruses. Prof. Claudia Denkinger and Ivonne Morales from Heidelburg University, Prof Sam Bosomprah, and Dr Monde Muyoyeta from CIDRZ are supervising her.
