Sam is an IDeAL Fellow pursuing an MSc in Bioinformatics at Pwani University. His focus is on human viral genomic surveillance, with a particular emphasis on respiratory viruses that pose significant public health challenges.

He is passionate about developing optimized bioinformatics tools that improve the efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility of genomic data analysis, especially in low- and middle-income countries. His goal is to help strengthen genomic surveillance systems to enable timely detection of viral outbreaks.
