I am a PhD candidate at Pwani University under the IDeAL-KEMRI/Wellcome Trust studentship. Originally from western Kenya and raised along the coast, I bring a unique perspective shaped by diverse cultural and geographic experiences. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science and a Master of Science in Microbiology. I am also a licensed medical laboratory technologist certified to practice in Kenya and the East African region.
My passion for tropical infectious diseases was sparked during my service at a public sub-county hospital in Mombasa, where I led diagnostic investigations for TB in patients co-infected with HIV/AIDS. That formative experience deepened my commitment to precision in diagnostics as a cornerstone of public health.
Currently, my doctoral research focuses on a prospective cohort study that seeks to improve tuberculosis diagnosis by strengthening bacteriological confirmation to reduce misdiagnosis. This work reflects my longstanding belief in evidence-based approaches to enhance healthcare outcomes in resource-limited settings.
Outside of research, I am a proud husband and father of four. I enjoy attending live music performances and find inspiration in the rhythm and creativity of African artistry.
