Lucy Magige

Masters Fellow

Ms. Lucy Magige is an early-career public health researcher with a keen interest in human nutrition, particularly the complex interplay between nutrition and health outcomes. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics from Kenyatta University. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health Nutrition at Amref International University, Kenya.

Lucy is a Master’s Fellow under the Initiative to Develop African Leaders (IDeAL) at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme (KWTRP), Kilifi, where she hopes she can hone her scientific research skills and further her professional development.

Her research work is embedded within the Virutubisho (Micronutrient) study, a Phase 2b dose-finding pharmacokinetic trial aimed at determining the optimal dosing of multiple micronutrient supplements (MMS) to correct micronutrient deficiencies among women of reproductive age in Kilifi County, Kenya. Her specific focus is on evaluating dietary intake and its contribution to the micronutrient status of pregnant women enrolled in the trial, as well as identifying the factors that influence dietary patterns and subsequently intake.

Her work aims to generate evidence that supports the implementation of effective nutrition interventions and policies, ultimately improving lives and building healthier, more resilient communities.
