I’m an MSc Immunology student with a passion for immune-mediated diseases. I hold a BSc in Biotechnology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), and was awarded a competitive studentship from the Initiative to Develop African Research Leaders (IDeAL) to pursue my master’s at Pwani University in Kilifi, Kenya.
Currently, I’m based at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme, where my research explores how chronic inflammation affects growth in children recovering from complicated severe malnutrition. This journey has been deeply meaningful and rewarding. I was named the overall winner of the Young Scientist Rising Star Award at the 2025 KEMRI Annual Scientific and Health Conference. I have also received a travel grant from Danone Nutricia Campus to present my work at the 12th International Conference on Nutrition and Growth in Athens, Greece.
In addition to my research interests, I have training in project management and monitoring & evaluation, and I’m a strong advocate for holistic well-being; you’ll often find me at the gym or watching the sunset.
My journey has been shaped and supported by many: my supervisors, team members, the IDeAL team, and the dedicated staff at KWTRP and Pwani University. Looking ahead, my commitment remains clear: to pursue science that improves health outcomes, especially in resource-limited settings.
