Kimani is an MSc Bioinformatics student at Pwani University, collaborating with the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme (KWTRP). He holds a BSc in Biochemistry from Chuka University. His research focuses on understanding the dynamics of Plasmodium falciparum in Kilifi County, Kenya, with a particular emphasis on its ancestry and population structure. By investigating the genetic relatedness of the parasite both locally and globally, his work aims to enhance our understanding of parasite transmission, resistance patterns, and genetic variation. Passionate about leveraging computational tools, Kimani seeks to improve disease surveillance, epidemiological studies, and public health strategies. His ultimate goal is to contribute to impactful research that informs policy decisions and improves healthcare outcomes, addressing endemic diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV, which are major causes of mortality and morbidity in Africa.
