ISSA SOUMANA Abdoul Moumouni

Masters Fellow, Epicentre, Niger

Dr. ISSA SOUMANA Abdoul Moumouni, a medical doctor, started his career with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF-OCG). There, he worked as a treating physician in a pediatric unit focusing on malaria and malnutrition management. In January 2021, he joined the Epicentre team. Initially, he served as the site physician for a study on preventing COVID-19 with chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine in healthcare settings. Later, he became the field principal investigator for two major studies: one on “Case-Area Targeted Interventions (CATI) during cholera outbreaks,” and another on the “Pharmacovigilance monitoring of COVID-19 vaccines in Niger.”

Currently, Dr. Abdoul Moumouni serves as the field principal investigator for a large-scale clinical research study. This study assesses the “Diagnostic performance and feasibility of two new therapeutic decision-making algorithms for pulmonary tuberculosis in children suffering from severe acute malnutrition in Madarounfa, Niger.”

Dedicated to ongoing learning, he is currently pursuing a master’s degree (M2) in Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology and Biostatistics, supported by the IDEAL scholarship program.
