PhD Fellow, KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme
I am a PhD fellow at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme. My research project aims to integrate human mobility movements, genomic sequencing and epidemiology data to understand the transmission dynamics of emerging infectious diseases in Kenya and Sub-Saharan Africa. We propose to utilise computational bioinformatics and mathematical tools to characterise these transmission patterns. The PhD work is supervised by Dr George Githinji, Dr Samson Kinyanjui, Dr Ivy Kombe and Prof Moritz Kreamer.
I hold a master’s degree in Biostatistics from Stellenbosch University (Cape Town, South Africa) and a bachelor’s degree from Maseno University, Kenya. Previously, I worked with the Centre for Disease Control (CDC-Kenya) to model spatial HIV target indicators in Western Kenya under the supervision of Prof Thomas Achia.
