Clement Mwagwabi is an M. Sc Bioinformatics student in the Department of Biochemistry & Biotechnology at Pwani University. He is currently interested in the genetic drivers of non-communicable diseases, particularly in rural populations.

Clement has strong technical proficiency in Python, R, and SQL, along with a solid foundation in epidemiology and statistics. Before joining his master’s program, Clement interned at the Kemri-Wellcome Trust Research Program within the IHCoR study group, which focuses on improving hypertension care in rural African populations. During this time, his primary focus was predicting mortality and cardiovascular events using individuals’ hypertension profiles. From this work, he has developed a manuscript currently under review.

In a world awash in data, Clement is eager to cut through the noise and uncover meaningful insights to improve community healthcare. Through bioinformatics, he hopes to gain a broader view of the healthcare pipeline and help shape policies that ultimately make the community healthier.
