Ms Brenda Bunyasi is a health systems researcher and program management specialist across sub-Saharan Africa. Her 9 years of working experience ranges from portfolio to project management.
Brenda has worked in client experience and portfolio management at the Co-operative Bank of Kenya. She later moved to Strathmore University Business School, where she supported executive education programs in leadership and healthcare management. The Socio-Technical Approaches to Road Safety Project (STARS), funded by the NIHR, UK, was her debut in health systems research. A key focus was on creating and implementing systemic approaches as well as think-aloud protocols to find local solutions to local problems within the road safety and emergency response space in Kenya.
She is currently the Strathmore site coordinator under the Initiative to Develop African Leaders (IDeAL) Consortium. She is also the country project coordinator for the African Health Diagnostics Platform Laboratory Services PPP (AHDP), a project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and European Investment Bank seeking to improve access and quality of laboratory services for low-income populations in Sub-Saharan Africa. She is also a member of the Violence and Injury Prevention Unit, MOH technical working group, as well as an advisor on systemic approaches to the LEARN project, an initiative from the International Road Federation (IRF, Geneva) and the Global Alliance of NGOs for road safety.
