Gerald Njuguna

PhD Fellow

Gerald Njuguna holds a BSc in Biochemistry and an MSc in Immunology. He is currently a PhD Fellow at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme, where he investigates immune responses to respiratory viral infections in children, with a focus on respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). His research aims to identify immune correlates of protection to guide effective pediatric vaccine strategies.

Previously, Gerald studied the impact of SARS-CoV-2 spike mutations on antibody binding and neutralization during his MSc and has worked on malaria research, exploring drug resistance in Plasmodium parasites and insecticide resistance in mosquito vectors.

His work bridges immunology, vaccinology, and infectious disease research, focusing on generating evidence to inform vaccine development and public health interventions in low- and middle-income settings.
