Course Detail:

A week long course targeted at PhD students and postdocs who have strong interest in the interaction between the immune system and pathogens, and how this underlies the pathogenesis of a wide range of infectious and non-communicable disease. The course consists of intensive learning sessions and a symposium on the most recent advances in the immunology and parasitology of malaria, HIV, TB and helminths delivered by some of the leading researchers in the field.Participants will also benefit from grant writing and careers sessions run by scientist who have a strong track record in obtaining research grant.

Flow Cytometry & Bioinformatics Workshops:

10th – 14th September, Pwani University, Kilifi.

A few course participants will be selected (based on their application) to attend hands on training in the above workshops. Complete the relevant sections of the KENBOP 2018 Application Form if you are interested in attending these workshops.

Eligibility:

PhD Students and Postdocs (within 5 years of PhD) working in either Universities or research institutes in Eastern Africa including South Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Uganda, Congo, Malawi, Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Kenya. Limited slots are available for self-funded participants from other parts of the world.

Course Bursary:

The course is free. Participants from Africa will receive a bursary to cover flights from within Africa, accommodation and meals. Participants from other parts of the world will not be eligible for a bursary and will have to meet the full cost of attendance if selected to attend the course, flights (from within Africa) accommodation and meals will be covered for each student.
