Peninnah holds a BSc. in Biochemistry from the University of Nairobi and is pursuing MSc. in Biotechnology from the same university. She is currently an IDeAL Masters fellow. Her study at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust aims to examine the kinetics of antibody responses to Rh5 and EBA-175 merozoite variants in plasma samples obtained from an acute and convalescent cohort of children. She aims to use her research to inform malaria vaccine development.

She has a keen interest in immunology, molecular biology and epidemiology of infectious diseases.
